SMU Host Programme
SMU Host Programme is a friendship and cultural exchange programme that helps international and exchange students settle into Singapore by promoting interaction with local hosts comprising both local students and host families.

For the 10th Anniversary edition in 2017, students and host families get to know each other better through an introduction dinner at the start of the programme. The dinner includes National Day/Deepavali festive challenges, cultural performances by students and games such as Singapore-themed trivia and crossword puzzles.

Hosts will bring their charges for outings to places such as the Jurong Bird Park and work with them to complete assigned tasks during the outing, which include answering questions related to Singapore history and culture.

In celebration of the 10th Anniversary, SMU is also organising a ‘Hey Host, You’re Awesome’ photo story contest where international students can share personal and friendships stories with their local host families. Deadline for competitions are 29 Oct 2017 (for Exchange Students) and 26 Nov 2018 (for Full-time Matriculated International Students), so look out for those heart-warming stories and winning entries on the SMU website, SMU online newsletter and social media platforms.
